Undervoltage Protection Product

We are pleased to announce a new 2-pole appliance switch with built-in undervoltage trip release. The new series prevents uncontrolled restarts of an appliance by monitoring and tripping under conditions such as extreme voltage drop, or when the supply voltage is interrupted. Even when the supply voltage returns in full, the machine or equipment does not automatically restart, but must be manually switched on again. The undervoltage trip release action and manual restart feature protect against harmful situations. Using such a device can prevent harmful situations for operators, as well as others in the surrounding work area.

The switch, with pushbutton or rocker actuation, is a circuit breaker with undervoltage protection, and without overload protection. The pushbutton version is available in both snap-in and screw-on (flange) mounting, while the rocker version is designed for snap-in mounting. IP rated protection covers are offered to prevent ingress of water spray and dust in machinery that operates in harsh environments such as construction sites, woodworking, metal, or masonry shops. The covers can be supplied factory mounted with the breaker or separately for client mounting.

Applications for undervoltage protection include products such as landscaping equipment, wood chippers, floor cleaning and sanding devices, electrical tools like circular saws, band saws, grinding machines and drills. Other application examples include fuel pumps, coffee-milling devices, fruit juice squeezing machines and fruit juice centrifuges.

This undervoltage circuit breaker configuration provides a corresponding part number according to switching and mounting features, and supply voltage. The rated switching utilization category is AC-1 16A / AC-3 14.5A @ 115/120 and 230/240 VAC. The switch is approved according to IEC 60947-4-1, UL 508, CSA 22.2 No.14-95.

Series FMBC and FMBD NEO 2-Stage EMC Filters for Power Line Systems Up To 520 VAC

We are pleased to announce the latest in its family of 3-phase power line filters for applications using frequency converters, such as motor drive systems, UPS systems, and renewable energy systems. The compact, 2-stage, high-end filters, FMBC NEO and FMBD NEO, protect against interference voltage from the mains, providing very high attenuation performance. The filters offer cost savings, and expand Dee Electronics’ range of 3-Phase filters to include broader choices in form, fit and function. Standard filters, as well as services for custom designs, continues to grow in demand as EMI standards become increasingly tightened in the industrial, commercial, and residential markets.

The FMBC NEO 2-stage, 3-phase filter has an operating voltage of 3 × 277/480 VAC and 3×300/520 VAC with a current range fom 7A – 180A. Its lengthwise design allows for installation in tight control panel spaces. The filter housing is designed for screw mounting. Connections for three phases and ground are made using screw clamp terminals.

The FMBD NEO, with neutral conductor, is intended for use in four wire systems or three phases: neutral, conductor, and ground. The operating voltage is set up for 3 × 300/520 VAC installations and is available in currents ranging from 8A – 200A. It combines exceptional attenuation with a low leakage rating of < 1 mA.

The NEO series is designed for frequency converter based applications such as drive systems, stepper motor drives, inverters and UPS systems. The relatively low leakage current of the FMBD NEO may even be used for some medical devices. The filter series is cURus approved with ENEC approval pending.

The IEC C14 inlet with EMI filter, series 5120 ECO offers two new configurations in addition to an already broad range of mounting styles and terminal options

Schurter Expands Its ECO Filtered IEC Inlet Family to Include a Version with Flexible Wire Leads and a Version for PCB Mounting

SCHURTER’s IEC C14 inlet with EMI filter, series 5120 ECO design, offers two new configurations in addition to an already broad range of mounting styles and terminal options. The series is designed to ease installation, reduce assembly time and cost, and provide optimal filter performance in a compact package.

The existing series offers traditional flange or snap-in mounting with quick-connect and solder terminals. Pre-formed threaded holes or quick mount rivet styles are designed for speed of assembly. The newly introduced version with flexible wire leads enables pre-assembly, further reducing handling and associated costs. A newly added PCB mount version provides optional snap feet to safely fasten the unit on the printed circuit board. A quick-connect terminal is provided for the ground connection to the chassis.

Ideal for meeting the increasing demands of IT, medical and industrial appliances subjected to high performance EMC compliance testing, the 5120 provides optimal shielding at the panel opening with its metal flange. The compact filter does not use potting compound; hence it is lightweight and easier to recycle. The series is ENEC and cURus approved and complies with IEC/EN standards for office and medical equipment, 60950 and 60601-1 respectively. It is rated up to 10 A at 250 VAC according to ENEC, UL & CSA, or 15 A at 125/250 VAC according to UL & CSA.
