New Low (2 kHz) Frequency Alarms

A full 33% lower frequency than standard 3 kHz alarms. A distinctive sound option for facilities, machines, or vehicles that already use one or more standard 3 kHz alarms. A more easily heard sound in some environments where a 3 kHz alarm might be masked by some other high frequency background noise. Available in the following tones: continuous, slow pulse (1 pps), medium pulse (5 pps), fast pulse (10 pps), double pulse-fast & slow. NEW Multi-Tone Alarms

Imagine a commercial airline in which alerts for conditions such as low hydraulic pressure, engine over-temperature, and over-speed (when the aircraft exceeds a predetermined maximum speed) would previously require 2 or 3 separate audible alarms. With the new multi-tone alarms, all these conditions could be handled by the same unit. This not only provides cost savings, but also contributes to design simplification. Typical applications include transportation (aircraft, railroad, long-haul trucks), as well as agricultural and construction equipment and industrial applications such as panel boxes. Reduce Power Consumption with New Low Power “Green” Audible Alarm Series

This new alarm series was developed to help designers build more efficient systems for customers who needed to reduce power consumption in applications such as panel boxes and industrial controls. The power consumption is one of the lowest in the industry. They are available in a wide range of AC and DC voltages. The 120 volt model consumes less than 4 watts, while the 16 volt models consume less that 0.5 watts. Because of its efficient design, the series can produce sound levels up to 105 dB despite its low power consumption. It is available in 20 continuous tone and 72 pulsing tone models, including slow, medium, and fast pulses. Other sound types are also available. This series features an embedded socket and a pluggable terminal block that provides finger-proof safe handling, prevents shock and shorting, and saves assembly time and labor. Screw terminals and flat blade terminals are available options. New Miniature Speaker Series

This new product line was developed to help design and project engineers who need sounds not normally achievable with standard piezoelectric alarms. These new speakers can achieve frequency ratings of less than 2 kHz. This is an advantage in products designed for older consumers because higher frequency hearing capability tends to diminish with age. Designers are also finding that the use of lower frequency audible signals gives them a way to provide a distinguishable sound in their products. Because of this flexiblility, this new speaker is being investigated by manufacurers of products in a very wide variety of industries, including consumer products, industrial machinery, medical equipment, aerospace, and transportation applications. The heart of this speaker is a Mylar speaker diaphragm. Among other adavantages, the Mylar speaker is water and fluid resistant, which makes it ideal for outdoor, medical, and humid applications. This speaker could also mimic certain animal sounds. There are 18 models available and they come in three different types: metal frame, plastic frame, and ultra-compact (low profile) plastic frame. The 8-ohm, 0.25-watt speakers range in size from 11mm to 57mm in diameter and from 3.0mm to 12.5mm in height. The sound levels range from 75 to 92 decibels. All 18 models are RoHS compliant. These new sounds were developed to help design and project engineers who need alarms that will stand out in an increasingly crowded auditory environment. Expected applications to include transportation, industrial machinery, utility vehicles, environmental, medical and military applications. This patented, programmable microcontroller technology allows the creation of nearly an unlimited variety of distinctive pulsing sounds. The 5 sounds that are currently available are double beep sound (slow & fast), short beep, quick beep, clicking sound and pulse rates that speed up (slow & fast). A “short” beep would be a beep that is on for 0.1 seconds during every 1-second cycle, while a “quick” beep describes a 1-second cycle during which the alarm beeps 60 times.
