Dee Electronics has made available a White Paper Report outlining the 12 biggest mistakes to avoid when selecting Circuit Protection or Circuit Breakers for your application.

It’s only a circuit breaker, right? Yet there is enough complexity and confusion when it comes to specifying circuit protection that many engineers are designing equipment with too little or too much protection. Under-protected circuits leave equipment vulnerable to damaging electrical surges. Over-protected circuits add cost and can lead to nuisance tripping. Like Goldilocks and the three bears, the goal is to specify circuit protection that is “just right”. There are many misconceptions when designing-in Circuit Protection, and we cover the 12 most common pitfalls for this white paper. It is our hope that by sharing this expertise, you will avoid these mistakes and protect your designs with “just right” circuit protection.

If you would like a copy of this Free Whitepaper Report, please just send an email to MyFeedback@dee-inc.com with “12 Mistakes on Circuit Protection Report” in the subject line, and be sure to include your contact information.

How to Reduce your Part Cost without Negotiating – Free White Paper Report

We have compiled a list of techniques and areas that provide a sort of “checklist” that can be used when trying to reduce the cost of a given component, but they do not require negotiating with the supplier or vendor. Essentially, these are proven areas that many times allow cost to come down through empirical data vs. strong-arming or pushing the vendor/supplier — which is an entirely different area for which many other papers and books have been written.

The value of having a list like this of these areas of cost reduction is that it is a very efficient, easy, and low stress way to verify if easy money is being left on the table due to simply not knowing there could be a lower cost available. This easy money savings is not necessarily in excess profit for the supplier/vendor, but rather “wasted cost” that is built into a given scenario, that may not be adding any “value” to you. Essentially, this non-negotiating process is about “waste elimination” at its root level. We reveal a bunch of “must-do” techniques in this report.

This is a short overview report/reference that walks through a handful of simple, but effective, ways to reduce component cost without negotiating – just by asking some basic questions. If you would like a FREE copy of this White Paper report, you can send an email to MyFeedback@DEE-inc.com with “How to Reduce My Cost without Negotiating Report” in the subject line, and provide your contact information.

Sealed, Hybrid and Modular Connector Portfolio for Transportation Applications

Building on the success of its interconnect system, the second generation sealed, hybrid, high-density and modular connector system has been introduced. The sophisticated design of the fully protected seal offers the ultimate in sealing performance, making the connector system particularly well suited for transportation powertrain applications, such as those found in engine control units, automatic gear boxes, suspension controllers and electrical parking brakes.

Based on over a decade experience with the product line, our next-generation interconnect system offers significant improvements in product performance while remaining cost competitive,” says Selvan Wilhelm, Global Product Manager. “The unique feature for all new connectors is the sophisticated design of the interfacial seal protection, which ensures the connector remains protected before mating, and during mating and unmating operations.”

The first two circuit sizes of the family, which meet the demands of the transportation market, is a compact 5-row 55-circuit connector and a 5-row 65-circuit connector. Additional circuit sizes to extend the family are already in development. Both connectors support low and medium current using .635mm (.025″) and 1.50mm (.059″) terminals. The new matte seal is designed for the ultimate high performing sealing function of the terminals, and can be used with ISO and JASO wires. The terminal system features a clean-body type design that performs well in harsh environments, while serving low, medium and high current applications. The use of high conductivity copper alloy allows excellent stress relaxation and current carrying properties.

The rear seal cover, which can be molded with breakable dummy-plugs for the terminal cavities, helps to reduce cycle time and applied costs for harness manufacturers. It also allows customers more flexibility for unused cavities.

The Quint UPS-IQ uses newly developed IQ technology to increase system availability. The rail-mounted uninterruptible power supply (UPS) monitors a scalable battery solution and provides the user with critical data.

The intelligent battery modules answer common reliability questions such as: Is the battery fully charged? How long will the battery backup last? Does the battery need replacement? Can the aging battery still supply the proper amount of energy?

The IQ technology manages the battery status and displays all of the relevant data on the UPS’s front panel, or transmits it to a computer. As a result, the user always knows the charge state, remaining buffer time and expected lifetime.

For 24 V loads, the Quint UPS-IQ has output currents of 5, 10, 20, and 40 A. The AC version has an output power of 500 VA.

Other system features include alarm contacts, PC shutdown and re-start, triggering e-mails and event-logging. The entire system, including the battery modules, is UL 508 and 1778 Listed.

DEE has developed a White Paper Report as a result of analysis and observations and data with respect to the activities and effectiveness of the RFQ outcomes for our manufacturer clients. Specifically, in this paper, we identify the things that are rarely ever done on RFQs by manufacturers — but should be, to achieve cost savings and best cost outcomes. These key actions apply to both large RFQ’s as well as single line or small RFQ’s, but obviously have greatest impact and greatest economies of scale on bigger RFQ situations. The five areas we have outlined in this report do not constitute every strategy/tactic, however, these do represent a list of key things that our data indicate are critical to maximize cost savings and supplier reduction. All are straight forward to implement, and they can all be tested in a small way to verify that the results are worth the effort (good ROI).

If you would like a copy of this FREE White Paper Report, just send an email to MyFeedback@DEE-inc.com, use “5 Key Things to Leverage RFQs Report” in the subject line, and include your contact information.

This is a bundled marking system comprising two printers and a preloaded laptop computer. The low-cost printing solution is ideal for smaller panel shops and system integrators with low volume, but a variety of marking needs.

The system allows the user to print a wide range of labels and markers for all products in and around the industrial control cabinet. It handles all types of marking jobs, including terminal block marking, shrink sleeves, wire wraps and many sizes and colors of adhesive labels.

One printer produces clear, quality printing on rigid cards or flexible sheets in less than eight seconds. The other printer can print configured shrink sleeves or save on materials costs by using endless shrink sleeves where the individual wire markers can be set to length.
