This slim 67.5 mm safety controller is available with either pluggable screw terminals or pluggable spring terminals and it can monitor up to 20 safety input signals. For example, the controller can monitor up to 10 dual contact emergency stops. It also provides four safety category 4 outputs, as well as outputs for a test pulse, alarm (aux) and ground switching. The functionality of a safety controller is one step above a safety relay and one step below a safety rated PLC. Safety controllers make sense for those applications using multiple standard safety relays or for applications requiring advanced or unique safety functionality. This device is a stand alone safety controller that can not be expanded. This safety controller comes with 20 safety inputs and 4 category 4 safety outputs. These safety I/O points must be configured using software that is available for free download on the manufacturer’s website. Using this software, the safety designer must make an association between an input(s) and an output(s). The “drag and drop” development environment allows for a user friendly experience while implementing simple or advanced safety relay type functional logic within the safety controller. A fully functional copy of the software can be downloaded at no charge. There are no licensing fees or other hidden charges. Emergency stop function blocks, two hand controls, door switches, delayed contacts (TON or TOFF), light curtains, muting, mode selection and other logic functions are some of the choices available for safety applications for this new safety controller. It conforms to the latest international safety standards. Performance Level “e” (PLe) in accordance with ISO 13849-1. Safety Category 4 according to ISO 13849-1. (EN954-1 is obsolete on 12/28/2009) Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3) in accordance with IEC 61508. This software can be used in “Simulation” mode to verify a safety project with no hardware connected.
