Power Entry Module Offers Maximum Functionality

with Minimal Dimensions

DD series is most compact power entry design for safe power input

SANTA ROSA, Calif., May 30,2007 – Schurter announced today the new DD11 and DD12 power entry modules as an extension to their existing snap-in and pcb mount counterparts. The new addition with mounting flange is offered for applications requiring screw mounting to the panel.

The DD series provides up to four functions packed into a 49 x 30 mm space saving package. The additional mounting flange supports horizontal mounting, thereby optimizing space while providing maximum functionality. The inlet portion of the unit (according to IEC 60320-1, style C14 or C18), integrates a fuseholder, switch and optional standard or medical EMC filter.

The DD series is especially suited for medical applications, designed to comply with IEC 60601-2. The fusedrawers are offered as 1 or 2-pole and accept 5 x 20mm fuses. An extra-safe feature prevents users from removing the fusedrawer while the power cord is plugged into the equipment. The medical filter limits leakage current to 5 or 80 μA respectively. The M80 version provides increased attenuation of electro-magnetic interference, yet still meets the leakage requirements for non-patient contact devices. The 2-pole switch offers an inrush current peak of 100 A capacitive for 3 ms and is available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions.

The series is rated for currents up to 8 A at 125 VAC 60 Hz by UL/CSA, and 10 A at 250 VAC 50 Hz by IEC/EN. It is also suited for use in applications as described in IEC 60950, such as measurement, office, security and data communications equipment. The compact design makes it ideally suited for use in low profile designs, especially 1RU enclosures for 19” racks, and IT and telecom infrastructures where equipment is continually downsized. Delivery is stock to 6 weeks.

Thermal Circuit Breaker Snaps-in As Easy As 1-2-3

Skilfully designed and compact TA35 series circuit breaker is available in 1-, 2- or 3-pole versions

SANTA ROSA, Calif., March 28, 2007 – SCHURTER’s TA35 series introduces a new generation of Circuit Breakers for Equipment. The breakers are available in 1-, 2- or 3-pole arrangements and stand out through their compact form and attractive design. The rocker-actuating switch can be supplied either with or without illumination in six different colors with various legends or customer specific symbols. The breakers have been designed for efficient snap-in mounting, fitting panel thicknesses ranging from 1 to 4 mm. Connections are made with 6.3 x 0.8 mm quick connect terminals.

The TA35 provides both the function of a switch as well as thermal overload protection. It has finely graduated rated currents of 0.05 A to 20 A for the 1- and 2-pole types, or 0.05 A to 12 A for 3-pole versions. An optional protective cover gives a protection class of IP 65, making the unit suitable for applications exposed to dust or splashing water. Typical applications are laboratory equipment for chemical and medical applications, wood and masonry processing machines, construction site equipment, power generators, cleaning equipment, food-processing equipment and appliances.

The new circuit breaker series is approved according to IEC 60934, UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 235 and has received or is pending VDE, cURus and CCC approvals. Delivery is stock to six weeks.

Power Entry Modules for PCB Mounting

DD21 and DD22 series provide maximum functionality within minimum dimensions

SANTA ROSA, Calif., February 9, 2007– SCHURTER’s new series DD21 and DD22 power entry modules have been conceptually designed for PCB mounting. The DD21 product is equipped with multiple functions including inlet connector, switching and fusing. In addition, the DD22 series offers standard or medical filter versions.  The compact design of this series makes them ideally suited for use in low profile designs, especially 1RU enclosures for 19” racks, and other IT and telecom infrastructures where equipment is continually downsized.

The DD series can be equipped with 1- or 2-pole fuseholders for 5 x 20 mm fuse-links. The 2-pole switch, which is designed for inrush current peaks of 100 A capacitive for 3 ms, is available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions. The DD21 is rated for currents at 8 and 10 A, while DD22 series is rated for currents at 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 A. The power entry modules fulfill IEC/EN 60950 requirements and are ENEC and UL/CSA approved up to 10 A 250 VAC 50 Hz and 8 A 125/250 VAC 60 Hz respectively. Special configurations such as protection class II (IEC 61140) arrangements or filters with special X1 capacitors for increased dielectric strength are available.

The DD series uses M3 or self-tapping screws for mounting onto a PCB or M3 screws for mounting from the rear of the housing.  The compact series requires minimal space having a board footprint of 65 mm wide by 34.6 mm deep, and panel cutout of 28.1 mm x 47.1 mm. Applications for this product include industrial PCs, digital audio applications, network routers, analog televisions and battery charging equipment.  Delivery is stock to six weeks.

Filtered Power Entry Module With IP65 Seal Protection

Series 5707 Power Entry Modules Prevents Particles and Liquids from Entering the Appliance

SANTA ROSA, Calif., March 1, 2007 – SCHURTER’s new and first of its kind power entry module, series 5707, advances the range of applications in the area of detachable power. It offers an alternative to makeshift accessories often used to prevent particles or liquids from entering the appliance. The new power entry module is resistant to dirt, dust or other fine particles as well as sprays, splashes or jets of non-aggressive liquids. It is ideal for use in electronic equipment exposed to leaks, drips and spills, as well as equipment subject to routine washing or disinfecting.

The inlet portion of the 5707 is according to IEC 60320-1, style C14 or C18. It is combined with a 1-or 2-pole fuseholder, and a standard or medical EMC filter rated up to 8 A at 250 VAC. The complete unit is rated IP65, with seal protection at the panel opening, around the fuseholders, and between the inlet and connector pins. The seal at the panel opening is achieved with a rubber lining, which is fixed into a groove around the metal flange. Front or rear mount versions are available. Special screws guarantee the sealing at the mounting holes.  The fuseholders are independent of each other and accept 5x20 mm fuses. Screw caps with o-rings are used to provide the seal between the cap and holder. A tool is required to remove the cap from the holder to replace the fuse, which is required for medical equipment.

The 5707 offers pre-wired electrical connections, using 6.3x0.8 quick connect terminals. The series is approved according to ENEC, UL & CSA. Versions for protection class I or II are available, as well as a version with special class I capacitors for increased voltage withstand. The module is according to medical standards IEC/UL 60601-1 and is ideally suited for use in medical applications such as diagnostic equipment, dialysis and infusion devices, as well as commercial appliances such as drink dispensing equipment Delivery is stock to six weeks.
